Wow, it has certainly been a while! The new job has been keeping me wound up and on my toes! In the realm of wedding planning, the update is rather thin. Nonetheless, the biggest thing is that THE dress has been found!
A trip to the Heart of Texas proved successful and fulfilled my wildest dreams for the perfect dress to pair with boots, just as I had hoped and expected! Mom and I ventured across Austin to a handful of different boutiques, but nothing really stood out the first day of looking. I saw lots of absolutely beautiful dresses, but they just didn’t glow with what I was wanting. We headed back to the hotel and ate a nice dinner together, and I was getting quite anxious! I had made an appointment at a shop called Unbridaled (The cure for the uncommon bride), and I thought that if I was going to find anything anywhere, it would be there; but it wasn’t until day 2 that I would find out.
After a good night’s sleep, a hearty breakfast in the hotel restaurant and our good walking shoes on, Mom and I finally found it, in a tucked away corner of a modest strip of shops. Unbridaled. My heart began to race! Kelsey welcomed us in and gave us a chance to look around. In all the other shops we went, we would poke around the racks, but each dress was just like the one before, and lacked any specific character. But oh how things were different here! Mom and I both found so many dresses that were incredibly beautiful, and just exactly along the lines of my idea. I tried several on, and bless Kelsey’s heart! She was so sweet, so patient, and kept a smile on her face even when my response dress after dress was, “Ummm, beautiful, but not quite the one…” UNTIL…. we found it. I put it on. Kesley zipped it up. I pushed the curtain back and stepped outside the dressing room and onto the pedestal. It fit so perfectly, and the elegant blend of lace and tulle was extraordinary and the furthest thing from a ball gown as you could probably get for a wedding. Mom’s face said it all… she leaned over and had a smile that said, “Yes. Yes. Yes.” Then I imagined seeing Monte for the first time the evening of the wedding, walking down the aisle with him, saying our vows, and just tried to imagine how it will feel and what he might say. This is the moment that tears began to fall. And then I remembered my father. Not many more words are necessary now…Once the dress was found, that freed up the rest of the weekend for Mom & I to get out and enjoy what Austin has to offer! We took a ride on the Duck Adventures, learned about some of Austin ’s history, and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of the Hula Hut! The food is amazing, and so are the Pina Coladas! What an awesome trip, exceptional company, and lots accomplished.
Thanks to a good friend of mine, I have been linked up with some KSU Graphic Design students who might be able to create some amazing invitations for us! I’m hoping for something unique that you won’t necessarily find anywhere else, but also within my budget. I realize they’re just invitations to an event, but this is no ordinary wedding folks. Ignore the fact that I might be a bit biased. I know this is proving to be the year for weddings, but even the Royalty can’t top ours! Sorry Kate & Will, y'all are lovely! Keep your fingers crossed, and we’ll see what comes of this!
We are down to 26 more days until Monte gets back to Kansas to stay! It's winding down folks, and it’s kind of surreal since we’ve been counting down for years now! We are finally on the downhill slide of living normal day-to-day lives together… whatever that might really mean. It will be so good to see him everyday, and know that we won’t have to leave each other again!!!
Well, the next update you get will probably include things Monte & I are doing together! Finally!!! 26 more days till he gets here, and 5 months and 8 days until we get hitched! Can't wait!!!
I hope you all have a great weekend, a very Happy Mother's Day to all of you Momma's out there!
Until next time...
